Fred Braman - Managing PartnerFred Braman was born in Saint John, New Brunswick, in 1951 and has lived in Montréal since 1956. He obtained a Bachelor of Arts degree (with Distinction) in 1972 and his Bachelor of Civil Law degree in 1975 (upper second class honours), both from McGill University. He was admitted to the Québec Bar in 1976, has been a partner of the firm since 1979, and is currently the managing partner. Professionally, Mr. Braman is a member of the Canadian Bar Association and has served on the Disciplinary Committee of the Québec Bar (Montréal 1992-95). He is a member of the Board of Federated Press "Competition Law" and was the author of "Restrictive Covenants in Québec and Canada" (1994), "Price Discrimination - the test for civil liability" (1996), "Creditor-Proof RRSPs" (1996) and "Competition by Ex-Employees - Court-Mandated Restrictions on Competition" (1997). He currently enjoys the "bv" (high to very high) rating of Martindale-Hubbell. In the community, Mr. Braman is past Secretary (2001-2008) of Montreal Presbytery of the United Church of Canada, Chair of The United Church of Canada Foundation, as well as past Chair of his local congregation, a director of the MAB-Mackay Rehabilitation Centre (for those with hearing, visual or motor impairment) and a director of Compagnie Flak/José Navas (for the creation and promotion of modern dance and choreography). Mr. Braman's current area of practice focuses on business law with strong elements of international transactions and taxation and a focus on creating and operating sustainable structures for continuing business relationships. The typical client remains the owner of a small to medium business although such clients are increasingly operating on an international scale. Mr. Braman is fluent in English and French. |
